Unit 10 question 4

In summerizing my personal experience through out the semester I would have to say that this has been my favorit and most helpful class that I have attended during my schooling at Kaplan. I have very much developed my overall well-being. I am much more focused on the moment instead of just going through the motions with any one thing. The one thing that was probably the most difficult when I first started it was quieting the mind. It is much easier for me now because my practing has turned it to a natural thing daily. In certain situations I have to remind myself to focus on the moment but I am getting much better. My ability after taking this class will improve my ability in assisting other by being able to share my experiences with them and to teach them the techniques that I have learned. Thanks Professor!

Unit 10 question 3

I have implemented theses activities in my well being, by practicing each day. With meditation to help the stress each one of the areas have been touched. Mt psychological, Physical and Spiritual have all been effected by meditation, and I wish to continue the progress and continue with new and old activities.

Unit 10 question 2

In reviewing the goals and activities that I set for myself in each area, I have definetly made progress toward these goals by , 1 opening myself up to new and exciting things, to letting go of old negative issues, to learning to relax the mind and calming the noises. Also to practice staying focused on the moment.

Unit 10 Spiritual Well-being

My spiritual well being has increased from a 7 to an 8. This class has made me realize that there are no limits to my spiritual well being, it is hard to measure on a scale from 1-10. I do plan on continuing to practice the skills that I have learned this semester, and furthering my skills in spirituality.

Unit 10 Physical

In completing this course I have improved my physical level of health and well being by being able to let go of the negative and focus on positive aspects of life. Also by letting go of any ill feelings I have for anyone else. The loving kindness exercises were very benefical for me. In unit three my physical well being was a 6, I belive it is a 7 at this point.

Unit 10 Psychological level

In unit three, I rated my psychological well being as 8. In completing this course I have found that it has opened different avenues to my abilities. In doing the different exercises I have found ways to relieve tension and stress and I have developed a deeper level of appreciation and love for things. As far as my current psychological, it has improved in a much deeper and satisfying way, but it is still a 8, I have much much more to larn.

Unit 9 Project--Introduction- It is important for health and wellness professionals to develope psychologically, spititually and physically becasue as a practitioner if an individual does not practice integral health in their own life they cannot possibly guide their patients to a life of integral health. To achieve integral health, one must develope and balance the psychological, sprititual, and physical aspects of life, this would be even more so for the practitioner. In my personal life, I must constantly work on all three areas of my life to achieve the balance within. Assessment-Physical well being- on a scale of 1-10, I would rate my current physical well being at 8. I am continuing to work on my immune system as Luekemia is still within. My lymphocytes levels are continuing to drop at a steady pace. I am feeling wonderful, better than I have in years, more energy and stamina. Spiritual well being-On a scale of 1-10, I would rate my current physical well being at 8. I have never been this spiritually balanced, and how wonderful it feels to be focused and making good decisions and not reacting without thinking about the situation first. Psychological well being-On a scale of 1-10, I would rate my psychological level at an 8. I am not where I want to be in my professional career, and that creates a little anxiety. But in another 6 to 8 months I will achieve that goal. I am sure at that point the anxiety I feel now will dissipate. Goal Development- Quality of life -remain unaffected by Leukemia Physical goal-remainpain free and full of energy Spiritual goal-continue to discover within. Psychological goal-reduce negative thoughts and also reduce strssors in life. Goal setting can be very general or specific. It is best to have a goal that is specific, measurable, actionable, realistic, and timely, or SMART. It is easier to see progress and stick with the goal that is set. Stragies that I can implement to foster growth in each of the following domains, Physical, Psychological, and Spititual are staying focused on my physical, psychological and spititual growth. Continuing to practice my meditation exercises and being able to calm the mind and focus on the paht I want to go down and never loosing sight of all my goals, short and long term. I will continue to assess my progress in the next six months by journaling, which will assist me in maintaing my long term practices for health and wellness. I will periodically look back to see where I have been, and constantly stay focused on where I am going.

Unit 8 Favorite two Exercises

My favorite two exercise from the semester are, Loving-Kindness and Meeting Asciepius. The loving kindness helps to rid of any negative emotions you may be harboring with out realizing it. By doing this exercise on a weekly basis I have found that I can feel a sense light heartedness. The heaviness of anything that may have happened during the week that I may have felt a little uneasy about or possibly a miscommunication of some kind, can all be released during that exercise. The second exercise I liked was, Meeting Asciepius, helping to keep my mind more focused and work toward a better mental fitness. It helps to train the mind to keep the chatter out. I will continue to utilize this exercises, on a regular basis, to help toward a calm and still mind.

Unit 7 "One cannot lead another where one has not gone himself"

This saying applies to the health and wellnes professional in respect to instructing a client to do a exercise without you completing it yourself and understanding. Making sure that they can the full effect of things is your responsibility and if your have never experienced it. You have a onligation to your clients to be able to instruct them and explain what ever practice you are involved in. Continuing on the path by implementing psychological and spiritual growth in my personal life on a daily basis and continuing to grow will spiritually will ensure health and well -being

Unit 7: Meeting Asciepius

I enjoyed completing this exercise as I have most of them, but for this one I enjoyed the most so far. Being able to allow the light beam to connect from my mentor to myself for a few moments was very relaxing and a very much needed break. Working through the rest of the exercise was also very enjoyable. Being mindful of your thoughts allows you to put different things into perspective. Not allowing yourself to get stressed, or overwelmed. Which in turn helps to keep a well balanced self. Daily practices of these exercises will help foster greater health and wellness. The more I practices these exercises the better I will become at creating a better life for myself.

Loving Kindness unit 6

In the loving kindness exercise, I enjoyed doing the exercise very much. It was a very refreshing exercise for me. It was an exercise where you thought of someone very close to you and you held a lot of love toward. You were to turn that love in ward and then project that love out to people that were suffering and then extend that out to individuals you may of had differences with in the past. I found that very easy for me to do. I could actually feel a sence of relief by doing this exercise. I am a person that tries not to harbor ill feelings anyway, but this exercise did help even further. I felt a joy within, a warm and comforting glow.

Scale of 1-10

My physical wellness on a scale of 1-10 would be a 6. I have Leukemia, which is a blood disorder, and they type I have is a very slow growing Leukemia. I am also a diabetic, which I keep under control. I do not have to have injections, oral medication is all. My spritual well being on a scale from 1-10 would be a 7. That is really good for me compaired to a year ago. My psychological level would be an 8. I am a very open minded individual, somewhat of a free spirit. There is good in everything all you have to do is look for it. Try and always focus on the positive, there is enough negative in the news. Implementing goals in the three different categories of my life have already begun, not letting the physical aspects of my life bring me down. I keep a close eye on my blood work and take supplements for anything I may be low in. I have a problem with vitamin D levels so I take supplements everyday for that. My spiritual well being I also work on that each day. I try and meditate or do yoga exercises each day. The psychological aspect of things are on the upswing also. I returned to school to finish my degree in psychology at the age of 56. Some of my family and friends try to discourage me from doing that , espically when I found out that I had L`eukemia. But for me, finding that out only enspired me all the more to complete what I originally started out to do. I have never really looked at age as being a factor in determining a lot of things, it all depends on the individual. "The Crime of the Century " was a wonderful CD, I felt very refeshed after listening to it. It was very relaxing and I even burned a CD to keep it on hand.
